Storage is usually in the for of a hard drive or solid state drive. It I far greater in capacity and most importantly is stores data even with being powered on. So everything on you phone is stored on the storage device. downside of storage is it is a lot slower than Memory.

Memory or RAM is extremely fast memory where the computer or phone puts important data that it needs to access fast and often. When a computer or phone is first powered on it loads important files need to run into ram so it can then use them. The main downside of ram in that if the device looses power everything in it will be lost.
